Generic SIP phone configuration

All SIP phones requires a basic set of information. If we do not have specific documentation or auto-configuration for your device, please consult your phone manufacture's documentation and use the following information where requested: 

Phone Setup Information

Domain / Proxy / Gateway: voip.aptela.com
Proxy Port: 5060
Outbound Proxy: voip.aptela.com
Outbound Port: 5060
Display Name: Your Name
User Name and/or Authorization User Name: aptelausername.aptelagroup

    • This is your Aptela user name and client ID separated by a period. For example: bob.abccompany
    • The user name and client ID are the same as those used to log in your Aptela account. If you do not know your user name or group name, see your account administrator.

Password: 16 digit random number found in the Aptela application 

    • This is a special SIP password, not your usual Aptela Password. Only the account administrator can provide this password.
    • The account administrator can obtain this password by logging in to the Aptela Web portal as operator, clicking on Settings in the navigation bar and then the About  tab. The SIP password is listed on this page and is highly random string of characters.

Voicemail: sip:voicemail@aptela.com
Codec: G.729 or G.711
Packet Size: 20ms
Re-register or Expire Time: 300 seconds

Register the phone's MAC address with Aptela

To complete any configuration, you must register the phone's MAC address with the user's information within the Aptela application. To do this follow the instructions below or visit our YouTube tutorial to walk you through these steps:

  1. Log into the website at http://www.aptela.com/my-account/
    • Users:
      • Select Settings from the Navigation Bar
      • Click on My Account
    • Account Operators:
      • Select People from the Navigation Bar
      • Click the name for the user(s) you wish to make changes to
  2. When the Edit Standard User page opens, scroll to VoIP Settings
  3. Scroll to VoIP Settings and click on Launch Phone Tool
  4. A web browser will open to My Phone Configuration. Click on “Configure Phone
  5. Enter the MAC Address of the phone for this user and hit Next
  6. Read the next page and click Close
