How to Add a Featureless User

The Account Operator has the ability to add, modify and remove users.  A user is anyone that will use the Aptela service for incoming and/or outgoing calls.  Each user has an extension associated with a profile, and can be associated with departments, call trees, or direct dial numbers.

Aptela offers two types of users: Standard and Featureless.  The Standard user is the most commonly used user type.  It includes all user features: access to an online account, inbound and/or outbound calling, voicemail, Find Me List, Notifications, and more.  The Featureless user is recommended for those who only need to route calls to an external phone number (e.g. outsourced Call Center or IVR), and do not require access to an online account, outbound calling, Voicemail, Find Me List, or other Aptela features.

Adding a new user will increase your monthly costs based upon the Usage Pattern (service plan) selected.  The default service plan for the Featureless user type is Overlay Metered (Mobile Extension).

 



Step 1: Log in to the Web Portal & Select the User Type
1.   Log in to http://www.aptela.com/my-account/ as the Account Operator
2.   Click on People from the Navigation Bar
3.   From the Directory tab, scroll to Directory Commands (lower right) and click on New User.
4.   A new "Add Directory Record" pop-up window will appear.
5.   Select Featureless and click "Next."
6.   Continue with the below steps.  After filling in the required information, scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save



Step 2: Enter the Account Information

After selecting the "Feaureless" user type, the user's Edit page will open.

  • First and Last Name: Enter the user's first and last name.  This information can be used by callers to search for the name in the Company’s Directory (for example, a caller may hear ‘Please enter the first 3 letters of the Last Name…’ and the system will respond based upon what’s entered the Last Name field).
  • Extension: Enter an unassigned extension number. This can be used by callers to dial a user directly by the extension number.
  • Phone Number: Enter the 10-digit phone number to be dialed.
  • Ring Time: Select the length of time the phone should ring.  We recommend 20 seconds for mobile phones (since mobile phones take longer to start ringing due to their technology).
  • Email: Enter the user's email address.
Below is an example of the Featureless user profile completed.





Optional Settings:
  • Enable or disable Call Screening.  By default this feature will be disabled.
