What is SIP?
|
The Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) is an
application-layer control (signaling) protocol for creating, modifying,
and terminating sessions with one or more participants. These sessions
include Internet telephone calls, multimedia distribution, and
multimedia conferences. You SIP user name is much like a phone number in traditional phone networks or your email address. It is your unique identifier that let's the phone network where to know where to find you. |
