How to Change or Block the Outbound Caller ID

Outbound Caller ID has two components:  a phone number and a name.

Name:  The phone number can be changed using the instructions below. To change the name, your account administrator must submit an account change ticket. Please specify the phone number and a 15 character maximum caller ID name that you wish to use. Listing changes are subject to a $14.99 change fee.

Phone Number:  When a user makes an outbound call, the "account default" phone number will display as caller ID. The operator can type in another phone number associated with the account to display with the user's outbound calls. For example, if a user has a unique phone number assigned to his/her extension for inbound calls, he/she may wish to have this number display for outbound calls.

To change the outbound number:
  1. Log into the Aptela account as the account operator: my.aptela.com.
  2. Click People from the navigation bar.
  3. Click on the name of the user you wish to make changes to.
  4. Scroll down and click on VoIP Settings.
  5. To change the outbound caller ID number, enter the 10 digit phone number in the Custom Caller ID field.  This number cannot consist of toll free numbers. Remove the phone number if you no longer wish for it to be displayed.
  6. To block the outbound caller ID number, change the Enable Caller ID Privacy to "Yes."  To disable the setting, click on "No."  If setup to block the information, the system will not display a name or number with the user's outbound calls.
  7. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save.
Notes:
  • When initiating a call via the "Click to Connect" feature, your main account number will display on outbound calls not your Custom Caller ID number.
  • Extension-to-extension calls will display the user's name as it appears on the user's profile rather than the company caller ID.
  •  Any carrier that touches a call can change the Caller ID information based on information they have stored within their database. Unfortunately, Aptela cannot enforce changes at that level.
