General SIP Phone Configuration Settings

All SIP phones require basic configuration settings to work with Aptela.

We provide specific phone configuration instructions for various SIP device manufacturers and/or models.  To view the list, click here.  If we do not have instructions for your device, please consult your phone manufacturer's documentation then use the following information to configure your phone.

Register the phone's MAC address with Aptela

The first step of phone configuration is to register the SIP device’s MAC Address / MAC ID with Aptela.  This step does not apply for Softphones.

  1. Turn the body of the phone over to expose the back of the unit.
  2. Locate a white sticker with a serial bar and a long string of letters and numbers next to a "MAC Address" or "MAC ID" label.  This is the phone MAC Address.
  3. Log into the Aptela account as the user or admin: my.aptela.com
    • Users: Click on Settings at the top of the page then My Account tab.
    • Administrators: Click on People at the top of the page then click on the user you would like to assign the phone to.
  4. Scroll down and click on VoIP Settings.
  5. Click on Launch Phone Tool next to Configure your SIP phone.  This will open a new window.
  6. Click on Configure Phone then type the MAC Address / ID in the MAC Address field.
  7. Click Next.

Enter the necessary phone configuration settings

After registering the MAC Address, enter the configuration settings where requested for your device.
