Comcast Cable Modem Setup

Comcast Business Cable Modems include a number of network firewall and routing features.

If you are having issues with the phones not auto-configuring or issues with voice quality such as dropped calls or one-way audio, you may need to disable some firewall options in the modem as they are known to block IP traffic.

1. Log into your Comcast Busines Cable Modem.
2. Go to the Firewall Section.
3. Disable Firewall for True Static IP Subnet Only
4. Disable Gateway Smart Packet Detection

Depending on the rest of your network, you also may need to set up Port Configuration rules.
SIP operates on the 5060 and higher port ranges (one port increase from 5060 per phone) and is UDP traffic type.  You may need to know the IP of the phone and you can obtain that from Polycom phones by hitting the menu button and then typing 221.
