My Polycom phone can't connect to the network

If your Polycom cannot connect there is one of two problems: firewall or phone mis-configuration. This article deal with phone mis-configuration. For Firewall troubleshooting see this article:

Select Setup from the phone's menu
Verify the following Network settings:

DHCP: Enabled
DHCP Menus:
  • Timeout: 3
  • BootServer: Option 66
  • BootSrv Opt: 150
  • BootSrv Type: IP Address
  • VLAN Discovery: Disabled
  • VLAN ID Opt: 129

IP Gateway: 000.000.000.000
Server Menu:
  • Server Type: FTP
  • Server Address: ftp.aptela.com
  • Server User: Client specific
  • Server Password: Client specific

SNTP Address: 000.000.000.000
GMT Offset: 0
DNS Server: 000.000.000.000
DNS Alt: 000.000.000.000
DNS Domain: blank
CDP: Enabled
VLAN: blank

If these settings are correct and you are still not getting a network connection on the phone, please plug a PC into the PC port on the back of the phone. If the PC connects to the network then the problem is with the phone or its configuration. If the PC gets no network connection then check the following:

  • Network traffic is at your network port where the phone is plugged in.
  • The network cable is plugged into the LAN port on the phone.
  • The network cable is the one shipped with the phone.
