Getting Started with Aptela Conferencing

Conferencing is a purchased add-on feature. If you would like to add this feature to your account, the Account Operator must submit a support request to Aptela Billing.

For customers with conferencing enabled on the account, you are ready to begin.  The below is a quick outline of the basics to get you started. The information from those articles will walk you through how to setup and use conferencing.  Be sure to read the "Important Notes" below before using Aptela Conferencing.

To get started:
  1. Set up your account for Aptela Conferencing
  2. Review the Conferencing Guide for organizers and users
  3. Learn how to access a bridge via the phone
  4. Lean how to join a bridge via the web portal
  5. Learn to invite participants via the web portal
  6. Learn more about Aptela Conferencing functionality


Important Notes:
  • Train your organizers and users!  Send them to the article found here.
  • Account users accessing the conference bridge from their SIP (desk) phone must do the following:
    • DO NOT dial the Aptela assigned phone number and select the conference option from the call tree
    • DO access the bridge via the Aptela System Menu Options via the Messages button or by dialing *8
  • Entering the call:
    • Callers will not hear a chime when entering the bridge
    • Callers will not be prompted to state their name
    • Callers will not be alerted to the quantity of callers already on the call
    • Joining parties will not be introduced to callers already on the call
  • Ending the conference call:
    • The call will not announce when other callers exit the call
    • The call will remain in progress if all callers do not hang up
  • There is no reporting system to notify organizers of the participants on the call
  • The Conferencing product is not designed to work with:
    • Aptela's virtual transfer feature (## Menu)
    • Aptela's Call Recording feature
    • The following hardware buttons on your SIP (desk) phone: Forward, Transfer, Do Not Disturb
  • Direct dial numbers can not be assigned to the bridge
  • The Conferencing product does not have a scheduling feature
