How to Add, Release, or Modify Phone Numbers

The account operator can add or remove phone and/or fax numbers for your Aptela service by submitting an account change ticket.  Additional monthly fees are associated with the purchase of phone, fax and toll free numbers.

To purchase or remove numbers:

The account operator must submit an account change ticket via the Support page (www.aptela.com/support/account-changes) and include the following:
    • Your client ID and contact information.
    • In the "Description" field, tell us what you need:
      • To purchase numbers, include the quantity of numbers needed and area code and city that each phone number should be in, and how the number(s) should be assigned (e.g. directly dial to Jane Smith).
      • To remove numbers, include the number(s) you would like removed.
      • To change the number's assignment, enter the phone number(s) to reassign and how it should be assigned.

About phone number purchases:

  • If we do not have numbers for your area in-stock and we offer service for the area, we will order the number(s) at no additional cost to you.  Please allow an additional 15 business days for your request to be completed.  We will notify you upon receipt of your request if additional time is needed.
  • We will assign a phone number to your account from our available inventory.  We currently do not offer the ability for customers to select their own numbers.
  • Some areas run out of phone numbers causing the area code to become be “exhausted”. If your request includes an exhausted area code and Aptela no longer has the area code available, we will assign a local phone number with a different area code for the exhausted code(s).  Unfortunately, Aptela has no control over "number depletion" or the associated relief plans.
  • If you would like to purchase a vanity toll free number (a unique toll free number that consists of a variation of memorable key words), please visit the AT&T website, search for an available number and include it with your request.  We will attempt to secure the requested number(s).  This process normally takes up to 5 business days.  If we are unable to secure the numbers, we will work with you to request alternate numbers.  NOTE: The vanity toll free number must route (be assigned) to a local number on your account.  If there is a specific number you would like us to assign it to, please include that number with your request.
