Dialing Methods - Blast versus Sequential

Aptela offers two basic dialing methods, Blast and Sequential. These dialing methods are available for individual Find Me Lists and Departments. Sequential: will ring each phone in your Find Me List in the order they appear. Each phone will ring for the length of time that you select for that phone. The default is set to 20 seconds. Blast: Aptela sends the call to a maximum of 5 phones listed in your Find Me List at the same time. If you have more than 5 phones enabled in your Find Me list, Aptela sends the call to the first 5, and then to the next 5 after that...and so on. Because of the way cell phone calls are transmitted, expect the cell phone entries to ring a bit later than SIP phones or land lines. Disabled: no phones in your Find Me List will ring. All calls will go to directly to voicemail. DEPARTMENTS Users in departments can be rung in the Blast, Sequential or a combination of Sequential Blast. Sequential: Calls are sent to department users based on the order they appear in the department's "Active Users" list. If there is no answer and users have more than one entry in their Find Me List, after all agents’ first enabled Find Me List entries are called, the call will hunt through the remaining enabled entries in the users' Find Me Lists in the same sequence. After the call rings each active phone number once, the caller will go to the No Answer Destination (Voicemail or Call Tree). USE CASE: Your office has one or more experts who specialize in the department responsibilities, but there is roll-over support if the experts are not available. Blast: Calls blast to a combination of Find Me List entries and agents at one time (up to 5 phones - if there are more than 5 in the department, it will ring the first 5, then the next 5, and so on). For example, agent A has two Find Me List entries (desk phone and mobile), agent B has one entry, agent C has two entries – all of these phones will ring with each inbound call. After the call rings each active phone number once, the caller will go to the No Answer Destination (Voicemail or Call Tree). USE CASE: When speed to answer the phone is critical, this is the best option for your business. Sequential Blast: Calls are sent to users based on the order they appear in the department's "Active Users" list. If the user has a Find Me/Follow Me list, the call will blast each active entry in the list (up to five entries). If the user doesn't pick up, the next Active User will have his/her active Find Me List entries blasted. After the call rings each active phone number once, the caller will go to the No Answer Destination (Voicemail or Call Tree). USE CASE: This option speeds up the time to answer, but gives the agent less time to answer the call.
