Fring Mobile Softphone

Fring is a free softphone application that enables Aptela users to make VoIP calls using your mobile phone. Fring supports many devices across multiple platforms including Symbian S60, iPhone/iPod touch, Android, Windows Mobile, J2ME & Linux devices (Blackberry is coming soon!) and operates on any available mobile internet connection (3G, Wi-Fi, GPRS, EDGE &WiMax).

To get started with Fring, click here to download the application to your smartphone. Note that Fring has very useful user guides accessible from their website that are specific to the devices they support.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN...

When configuring any softphone, you will need the unique SIP Password for your Aptela account. Only the account administrator has access to the SIP password.

  1. Login to the Administrator Portal as the admin
  2. Click on the Settings tab
  3. Click on the "About" tab and scroll down until you see SIP password
  4. The SIP password is a combination of letters and numbers and is case sensitive
Hint: if you email the SIP password to yourself, open the email from your iPhone to copy/paste it into the Fring application

The User ID used for softphones is a combination of your username and your client ID:  username.clientID

  • Username = the username that you use to log in to Aptela  (example: bsmith)
  • Client ID = the client ID that you use to log in to Aptela  (example:  acme21)
  • The sample username would then be bsmith.acme21
