Zoiper Softphone Configuration Guide

Aptela does not sell or provide provide direct support for the Zoiper phone.  We have tested it for use with Aptela and find it to be a very nice, lightweight option to the Counterpath X-Lite or Eyebeam series of phones.  For Zoiper support, visit their support page: http://www.zoiper.com/support.php


Step 1
Collect your SIP Password by logging into my.aptela.com as the account administrator. If you are not the account admin, see them to get this information.
  1. Click on Settings from the navigation bar
  2. Click on the About tab
  3. Locate the SIP Password. This information is made up of a string of letters and numbers.
  4. Make note of this information as you will need to enter it into the softphone. We encourage you to copy it to your clip board.
Step 2
Download the Zoiper softphone and prepare it for configuration. View a screenshot of these settings here.
  1. Download the softphone at http://www.zoiper.com/free.php
  2. Once downloaded and installed, launch the Zoiper phone
  3. Click on Zoiper from the menu bar and then Preferences...
  4. Click on Add new SIP Account
  5. Enter Name for this profile
Step 3
Enter the following settings under the SIP account options section.
  1. Domain: aptela.com
  2. Username: your username.clientname
    • username is your Aptela Username that you log in with
    • clientname is your Aptela Client name that you log in with
  3. Password: your SIP Password collected in step 1
  4. Caller ID Name: your name
Step 4
Setup the advanced account options.
  1. Open Preferences or Settings, click on your profile and check the box to Show advanced options at the bottom left of screen
  2. Within the Advanced account options section:
    • Check the box to Register on startup
    • In the Voicemail extension field enter sip:voicemail@aptela.com
    • Change the Registration expiry to 300
  3. From the left menu, click on Protocol Option and expand its content
  4. Setup the SIP Options by entering the appropriate SIP port number.  Start with 5700 and use a different number, increasing by one digit, for each Zoiper you configure.  Example, Jane will use SIP port 5700, Bob will use 5701, Sue will use 5702.  NOTE: Each Zoiper must use a unique SIP port number.  
  5. Setup the RTP Options by entering the appropriate RTP port number.  Start with 11000 and use a different number, increasing by one digit, for each Zoiper you configure.  Example, Jane will use RTP port 11000, Bob will use 11001, Sue will use 11002.  NOTE: Each Zoiper must use a unique RTP port number.

Step 5
Set up your headset options under Audio devices.

Step 6

Click on Register to use the phone. You know your phone is ready for use when it says (Registered) next to your profile name on the main phone screen.  Make a call to and from the device to confirm it works.  That's it!

Transfer calls:  ##3
Extension dial:  *7 + extension
