How to Make Calls

Making Local Calls

Dial the 7-digit number to make local calls.

Aptela determines the locality by the area code of your custom caller ID number, which is either your main account phone number or another number entered by the account operator.

Example 1 - if your main number has area code 703 and you do not have a custom caller ID setup, you can make local calls to numbers with 703 area code.

Example 2 - if your main number has area code 703 but your custom caller ID number is area code 830, you can only make local calls to numbers with 830 area code.

Users and operators can view the main number within the portal from the Settings menu > About tab > Client Phone Numbers > the Authorized Number. The custom caller ID number can be viewed from the People menu > opening the user profile > scrolling to VoIP settings > Custom Caller ID field.

Making Long Distance Calls

Dial the 10-digit number (area code plus number) to make a long distance call.

Making International Calls

Dial 011 + country code + city code + number to dial international calls.

Each account must activate international dialing. To activate for your business, have the account administrator submit a request here.
