Committed to our communities.
At Aptela, we give back to the communities where we live and work. Our charity relations committee coordinates volunteer opportunities throughout the year. Our current involvement includes:
Our Daily Bread.
Every holiday season, we partner with Our Daily Bread to help one local family enjoy their holiday just a little bit more. This volunteer-based organization focuses on easing the plight of low-income residents across Fairfax County, Virginia.
Our Daily Bread identifies and addresses the fundamental needs of Fairfax County residents and empowers the local community to help its neighbors maintain self-sufficiency. Aptela works side-by-side with Our Daily Bread every year so that local families have the opportunity to share in the joys of the holiday season.
We invite you to join us in this very worthwhile cause. It is our annual goal—with the help of our community—to provide at least one family with essential household items. If you'd like to participate with us, please send an email to jgibson@aptela.com. In addition to making a difference in our community, your business will be included in a nationwide press release describing your involvement with the Aptela Community Outreach Program.
Food for Others.
Aptela will hold a Thanksgiving food drive to benefit Food for Others (www.foodforothers.org), a local non-profit food bank and food rescue operation serving Northern Virginia. Even though Northern Virginia is one of the wealthiest parts of the country, many people still need help:
- The poverty rate is 5%—based on US Census Figures, 90,183 persons are living in poverty. 30% are children.
- In Fairfax County, 18.6% of the enrolled student body qualifies for free or reduced lunch programs. In Arlington County, the rate increases to 42%.
- In 2005, Food for Others helped 14,649 families in need.
If you'd like to participate with us, please send an email to jgibson@aptela.com.
