Business VoIP A-Z: February 2011 Edition
Happy 2011 from Aptela! We are back with another edition of Business VoIP: A-Z, and like our previous post, will continue exploring ten more Aptela-specific VoIP terms. Hopefully these terms will help you learn a little more about VoIP and what Aptela has to offer, whether you are a current customer or not!
- Active Call Room - A web-based tool that allows employees to facilitate a variety of phone functions-including flip, hold, transfer, and call recording.
- Call Answering Rules - Allows you to configure your system quickly and easily. Incoming calls can ring multiple phones or extensions at once or call them one at a time. Calls can be routed to extensions to voicemail or an alternate phone. Create rules for individual extensions and/or for your company main number.
- Call Flip/Call Toggling - Flip" a call from your desk phone to your cell phone-or vice versa-on the fly.
- Enhanced 911 Service - Quick-dials your local emergency operator for assistance.
- Password Management - Administrators can reset user passwords for the web portal and voicemail system.
- Remote Office - Lets you work remotely, placing calls from any phone as if you were in the office. By using your IP deskphone or a softphone, you can avoid long distance fees and hotel calling surcharges.
- Sequential Ring - Allows you to have multiple phone numbers ring in a specified sequence when receiving incoming calls.
- Text to Speech Recording - Choose text-to-text-speech to create custom recordings. Choose from a selection of voices that include British accents and Spanish languages.
- User Line Presence - View real-time presence for all employees to see who is on/off the phone and available to take or make calls. Available from the User Dashboard, one click will initiate calls to available colleagues.
- Warm Transfer - Allows you to put a caller on hold, call a third party, hang up and resume the conversation with the caller.
