Aptela’s Product Naming Initiative Launched – See How Crowdsourcing Can Help You!
As announced in a previous blog post, Aptela has embarked on a crowdsourcing initiative. Crowdsourcing is a very popular and successful way for any business to huddle the masses to accomplish a specific need - in our case, product naming.
We've engaged with GeniusRocket for this effort and are looking forward to seeing the results. Equally important to us - it gives Aptela the opportunity to engage with other small businesses like ourselves to solve a specific business need. The Internet gives us a mechanism to connect with the masses and the use of social media has enabled us to reach out to an unlimited number of creative agencies and entrepreneurs for this very important initiative.
If you'd like to join the fun, our naming project will run from August 25, 2009 through August 31, 2009. If you're selected, you'll be awarded a $900 commission for your efforts. Just click here, to learn more.
Whether you’re looking for help with Product Development, Marketing or Promotion, Crowdsourcing is a tool you should consider. Check out today’s MarketingProfs article, “Put Crowdsourcing to Work for You: Five Tips for Getting Started,” for more information on how you can put this powerful concept to work for your business.

I thought the idea of crowdsourcing was really cool for your naming project. I did just see the name that was chosen.. and reading your project details, I cannot figure out how a name that is used for several high profile companies and products, was the answer to your query. I think the crowdsourcing idea is great, in theory, but I find that most companies choose things that don’t meet their requirements, as stated. The name chosen was not ownable, in your case, and could have been thought up by your own staff if you were not looking for a creative solution. //shakes head
