Aptela is currently searching for a Sr. Linux System Administrator. The Sr. Linux Systems Administrator will be a critical member of the team responsible for managing the systems and datacenter infrastructure for the business' high volume applications.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for requirements analysis, design, implementation, and maintenance for Aptela’s network and LAN systems as well as production support of multiple servers.
Collaborate with product development team to improve / develop an environment of structured life cycle management including a change management system with extensive testing prior to implementation.
Work in all phases of Linux systems deployment in supporting production and test environments, including the ability to trouble shoot, resolve, and recommend technology solutions related to Linux servers and networks.
Troubleshoot and analyze; foster an environment that promotes long-term problem avoidance. This is the ability to trouble shoot as well as determine problem sources and implement solutions/policies and procedures that reduce the possibility of problems reoccurring.
System performance, monitoring, tuning and analysis.
Shared 24/7 support of systems/infrastructure. Facilitate systems and technical infrastructure updates or changes inside the maintenance window. Work nights and weekends as required.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
· 3-5 years experience supporting Linux systems in a production environment
· Experience with site planning, software and hardware maintenance and upgrades
· Experience with 24/7 on-call production/operations support required
· Excellent communication skills
· Ability to manage time and priorities to respond to deadlines.
· In depth working experience of Cisco hardware and operating systems.
· Expertise in hardware and operating system installation and support primarily focusing on x86 platform servers
· Experience / advanced working knowledge with the following technologies:
Ubantu, Slackware, Debian, x86 hardware, Mysql, Postgresql, SIP, Routing / networking, Firewalls, NFS, DNS, Email – postfix / courier-imap / procmail, Jabber, Apache, Asterisk, Open VPN, Scripting in Perl/php/Python/bash
· Ability to manage time and priorities to respond to deadlines. Ability to work on multiple tasks that are not necessarily well defined, under pressure of full workload, tight deadlines and shifting priorities.
· Ability to think out of the box
· Routing / networking
· Ability to document work
