JOB DESCRIPTION
Planning:
- Responsible for the establishment of both annual and monthly sales objectives in coordination with the Company’s business plan
- Responsible for providing an annual Sales Plan and providing monthly updates, revisions and modifications to the plan
- Responsible for coordinating the specific objectives of the Sales Plan with all of the functional departments of the company
- The VP, Sales will also be an integral member of the Executive Management Team and participate fully in the development of the corporate strategy and its daily execution
Execution:
- The VP, Sales manages all of the sales functions. The position specifically is responsible for outside sales, inside sales, and channel (in-direct) sales
- Defines and manages the monthly and annual sales objectives for all of the sales personnel
- The VP, Sales is expected to spend a significant portion of time in front of the customer both in the office with inside sales and traveling in the field with outside sales and channel partners
- Establishes, in coordination with the President and CFO, compensation plans for all sales personnel including base salary, incentive compensation (commission/bonus) and sales contests
- The VP, Sales is expected to be knowledgeable of market and industry trends, competitors, and leading customer strategies
REQUIRED SKILL SET & QUALIFICATIONS
Skills:
- Extensive experience in developing, managing and motivating both inside and outside sales personnel
- Has developed and managed channel partner sales programs
- Has been a successful sales executive in the telecom industry selling services to the small and medium business market
- Experience in software as a service and / or recurring revenue business models where retention of the customer is paramount to successful growth of the business is preferred
- Developed and executed tactical sales plans including quotas and account objectives
- Has successfully built a regional / national sales organization for a high growth technology business, demonstrating the ability to design and implement repeatable / scalable sales processes
- Proven track record of building winning sales teams and leading sales organizations to consistently exceed sales goals
- Highly organized and has very effective time management skills
- Is a demonstrated leader among employees
- Highly computer literate and is committed to using SFA/CRM applications for managing the sales organization
- Strong negotiating skills and capacity
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Equally strong listening skills
Experience:
- Minimum 10-15 years industry experience
- Minimum 5-8 years in senior sales management
- Experience working in both large and small growth / venture backed companies is preferred
- Bachelor’s degree is required and a Master’s degree is preferred
